Homework in Year 1/2 is reading every night and planners must be signed or initialed by an adult when your child has read. Please encourage your child to also read and discuss books from home, online through our 'Bug Club,' the library or any texts that they are interested in. Comments about their reading are useful. In addition, there will be English and Maths activities weekly. These will be given out on Wednesdays and should be returned the following Tuesday.
PE is on Wednesday and Thursday so please remove earrings and ensure that your child has a full PE kit in school.
Reading books will be changed in class weekly on a Friday. For Year 1 children, these will be issued in line with their current phonics learning and should be read at least three times to secure recognition of new graphemes. Please ensure your child has their book and planner in school every day. It is very important that each child begins to gain a deeper understanding when they are reading. It is helpful if you can question your child about the story, characters, plot, events and meaning in the books they read. Spend time discussing what they have read, what they liked /disliked, giving reasons for their choices.
If you have a message, please use the message option on Class Dojo, which will be seen directly by myself and I will endeavor to reply as soon as possible.
Thank you for your support,
Mrs. M Abram
