School routines ...
Homework in Year One/Two is reading every night and planners must be signed or initialed by an adult when your child has read. Please encourage your child to also read and discuss books from home, online through our 'Bug Club,' the library or any texts that they are interested in. Comments about their reading are useful. Please support your child in spelling the words on the sheet that has previously been sent home as the spelling of high frequency and tricky words will be useful to your child’s writing. In addition there will be English/Maths activities weekly. These will be given out on Tuesdays and should be returned the following Monday. Please can you make sure that you return your homework books for the following Monday in order for the next activities to be stuck in.
PE is on Tuesday so please remove earrings and ensure that your child has a full PE kit in school. Earrings should also be removed for our dance session, which is now on Wednesday each week. Reading books will be changed in class weekly on a Monday. Please ensure your child has their book and planner in school every day. If you have a message, please use the message option on Class Dojo, which will be seen directly by myself and I will endeavor to reply asap.
It is very important that each child begins to gain a deeper understanding when they are reading. It is helpful if you can question your child about the story, characters, plot, events and meaning in the books they read. Spend time discussing what they have read, what they liked /disliked, giving reasons for their choices.
